Jono Blackham spent the definitive years of his life growing up in the wide, open landscapes of the Namib Desert, Skeleton Coast, Namaqualand and various other remote parts of Southern Africa. After studying cinematography in Cape Town, he spent a number of years in commercial filmmaking before finding his true passion in landscape and fashion photography.
His style and inspiration stem from the divinity of the natural environment within which he shoots his subjects, forming stories through the interaction between feminine beauty, fashion and awe-inspiring landscapes. He favours the manipulation of available light adding to the mood of his images, and emphasizing subtle details without drawing the viewer’s attention away from the story.
Combining his film background together with photography, he values the importance of story telling in his pictures and is able to express a greater tale in a simple shot because of this sensibility for creating scenes.
